Rick Ross claimed that he and Maybach Music artist Meek Mill have a “real” bond despite previous rumors of tension.
N.O.R.E. asked Rozay about his recent acquisition of Meek’s $4.2 million mansion in Atlanta, Georgia. He confirmed he bought the property. “It was something that Meek had posted online,” he said. “Shit was moving slow. … Meek Mill my family.” The topic then changed to N.O.R.E. questioning Ross about rumors of tension between him and Meek. The Drink Champs host said that he heard the rumors, but when he saw they were in the studio together again it “touched [his] heart.”
“Did you plan that?” he asked Ross. “It was nothing that we planned, it was definitely something that just happened,” he answered. “The bond between Rozay, Meek Mill and also Gunplay and also Wale, that’s something that’s real. And it’ll stay real forever.” Later in the interview, he was asked to choose between Meek and Wale, but he couldn’t because he thinks they are both “geniuses.”
The two rappers were rumored to be in conflict in 2021. It was reported that Ross was not allowed to enter Meek’s birthday party that year, but they never publicly explained if there were problems between them. Around the same time, Meek expressed his dissatisfaction with his record deal. In an interview about the situation in late 2021, Ross said he thought that Meek’s public complaint about the deal was related to Atlantic Records, not his label Maybach Music Group. The pair reunited onstage last year, as Ross shared on Instagram.
Last month, Meek announced in a tweet that Ross bought another property from him after buying the mansion. “Ross bought another crib off me for a ‘m’ yesterday!” he wrote. “I had to ask him tf you doing with all this property.”
