Two ex-employees of the State Department of Education sued the Republican State Superintendent and his top assistant for wrongful termination.

They claim they were fired for exposing an illegal teacher pay plan and an email that threatened and retaliated against whistleblowers. They seek damages and attorney fees.

The lawsuits allege that Walters’ top aide sent an email to trap and fire whistleblowers.

The email violated their First Amendment rights and retaliated against them for sharing public concerns.

The plaintiffs’ lawyer says they deserve damages and fees.
