A millionaire in Finland has been slapped with a record-breaking fine of $130,000 for speeding on a highway.
The hefty penalty was calculated based on his income, as Finland is one of the few countries that uses a progressive system for traffic violations.
According to the Finnish authorities, the man was driving at 149 km/h (93 mph) in an 80 km/h (50 mph) zone, which is considered a serious offense.
The man, who owns a large IT company, reportedly earned $7 million in 2022, making him one of the highest earners in the country.
The fine was determined by dividing his daily income by 60 and then multiplying it by 22, which is the number of days that he would have to spend in jail if he had chosen that option instead of paying.
The millionaire did not contest the fine and paid it in full.
