Srinivasa Murthy Jonnalagadda was a loving father who always put his family first. He was also a brave hero who sacrificed his life to save his son from drowning at a California beach.

On May 29, 2023, Jonnalagadda took his family to Panther State Beach in Santa Cruz County for a fun day out.

They did not plan to enter the water, but his 13-year-old son was curious and went near the shore. Suddenly, a large wave knocked him down and dragged him into the ocean. Jonnalagadda, who did not know how to swim, did not hesitate and ran into the water to rescue his son.

He managed to reach him with the help of a good Samaritan and bring him back to safety. However, he was unable to escape the strong riptide and drowned.

Rescuers arrived at the scene and airlifted him to Stanford Hospital, where he later died. Jonnalagadda is survived by his wife and two sons, who are devastated by his loss. He was a man of action and kindness, who always helped others in need.

He was also actively involved in community service and made a positive impact on many lives.

His funeral service will be held on June 7 at Chapel of Angels in Fremont. He will be remembered as a loving husband, father, friend and hero.
