The UK will host the world’s first summit on artificial intelligence (AI) next year, Prime Minister Rishi Sunak announced during his visit to the US. The summit, which will take place in London in June 2023, aims to bring together global leaders, experts, and innovators to discuss the opportunities and challenges of AI for humanity.
Sunak said that the UK is a world leader in AI research and development, and that the summit will showcase the country’s achievements and ambitions in this field.
He also said that the summit will foster international collaboration and dialogue on how to ensure that AI is used ethically and responsibly for the benefit of all. “AI is transforming every aspect of our lives, from healthcare to education, from business to entertainment.
It has the potential to solve some of the biggest problems facing humanity, such as climate change, poverty, and disease. But it also poses significant risks and ethical dilemmas that we need to address together,” Sunak said in a statement.
“The UK is at the forefront of AI innovation, and we want to share our vision and values with the world. That’s why we are hosting the first-ever global summit on AI, to bring together the best minds and the brightest ideas from across the globe. We want to make sure that AI is a force for good, that respects human rights and freedoms, and that enhances our prosperity and well-being.”
