In a meeting with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping said that China is willing to help foster Palestinian peacemaking with Israel.

Xi reiterated China’s support for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, as well as for the international community to increase humanitarian aid to the Palestinians.

Xi also expressed China’s readiness to play a positive role in promoting internal reconciliation among the Palestinians and facilitating dialogue with Israel, saying that China can contribute “Chinese wisdom” to the resolution of the Palestinian issue.
