The largest West Bank raid in years: Israeli forces kill nine Palestinians
Yesterday, a massive operation by Israeli forces in the occupied West Bank resulted in the deaths of nine Palestinians, according to local sources. The army described the operation as an “extensive counterterrorism effort,” which involved air strikes, hundreds of troops, and heavy machinery.
The operation targeted the Jenin refugee camp in the northern city of Jenin, where many residents were forced to flee their homes amid the violence. Kamal Abu al-Roub, the deputy governor of Jenin, told AFP that about 3,000 people had been displaced and were being accommodated in schools and other facilities in the city.
The raid came under the leadership of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who heads a hard-right government that has faced criticism for its policies towards the Palestinians. The operation was the biggest of its kind in the West Bank for years, and raised fears of further escalation and retaliation.
