Police arrest father of Sara Sharif, 10, who died from multiple injuries, after he returns to UK from Pakistan. Urfan Sharif, his wife Beinash Batool and his brother Faisal Malik had fled to Pakistan with Sara’s five siblings on August 9, the day before Sara was found dead at her home in Woking, Surrey.

Police had been alerted by Sharif himself, who called them from Pakistan at around 2.50am on August 10. A post-mortem examination revealed that Sara had been abused and injured for a long time before her death. Sharif, Batool and Malik had been hiding in Pakistan until they boarded a flight to Dubai, from where they were due to fly to London Gatwick.

They landed at Gatwick shortly before 7.30pm this evening and were arrested by police.

After landing at Gatwick, two men, aged 41 and 28, and a woman, aged 29, were arrested by officers, who were witnessed storming the plane by passengers.

The police have not named those arrested, but they are understood to be Sara’s father Urfan Sharif, 41, his wife Beinash Batool, 29, and his brother Faisal Malik, 28. All three have been in Pakistan since August.

Surrey Police said the three suspects were arrested at Gatwick Airport at around 7.54pm on Wednesday, with the suspects now in police custody. The force said they will be interviewed in due course.
