UK, Sept 22: Police have detained a woman who is suspected of giving a harmful substance to three people who died in the same area over three months.
The deaths of Kevin Conway, 41, Stephanie Alderson, 35, and Kathleen Broomfield, 43, in South Bank, near Middlesbrough, between July and September this year are being investigated by Cleveland Police.
A 43-year-old woman is being held on suspicion of giving a harmful substance in connection with all three deaths.
Two men, aged 47, and a woman, aged 39, are also being held on suspicion of giving a harmful substance in relation to the death of Kathleen Broomfield.
All four suspects are on bail while the investigation continues, police said.
Mr Conway was found dead at a home on Ajax Way on 15 July.
His sister Claire said: “Kevin was a beloved son, father, brother and friend. His sudden passing has left us heartbroken.”
Ms Alderson was found dead at another home on Ajax Way on Monday.
Her mother Glennis said: “Stephanie was a cherished daughter who we will miss dearly.”
Ms Broomfield was reported dead at a home on South Court in South Bank on Tuesday.
Her brother Paul said: “We will never say goodbye to you. You will always be in our hearts wherever you are.”
