Today, Philippine’s National Disaster Agency announced that nine people have died in a powerful quake off the southern Philippines, and cautioned that the toll may increase.
When the 6.7-magnitude quake rocked the Mindanao region on Friday, people ran into the streets or took cover under tables, as buildings trembled and a part of a ceiling inside a shopping mall caved in.
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said in its latest update that more than 800 houses were wrecked or destroyed, and at least 15 people were wounded.
