6 People dead, 24 injured and 19 taken to hospitals after a shooting at a July 4th Parade at downtown Highland Park, Illinois, a Chicago suburb.
According to reports; the parade commenced about 10am, when suddenly sounds presumed to be fire crackers were heard; soon enough it was confirmed those were gun fire sounds. Hundreds of parade goers were seen fleeing the scene while some were covered in blood.
According to witness the shooter was seen on a roof top but Police hasn’t confirmed the specific roof. Police are still searching for the shooter at this moment. Police are seeking for witnesses to step forward and anyone with video coverage of the scene should step forward.
Chicago Mayor Lori Lightfoot tweeted: “The tragedy unfolding in Highland Park is devastating. I have been in contact with Mayor Rotering and have offered our support, and the Chicago Police Department is providing assistance. We grieve with the families of the deceased and injured as well…”

Illinois Gov. J.B. Pritzker said in a tweet that he is “closely monitoring the situation in Highland Park” and that Illinois State Police are assisting.
